Blind Enterprises and Thunderbird

These are the instructions for setting up Thunderbird. We are using Peek mail in and Comcast mail out. You will need ISP-accounts-blindenterprises.xls and the Comcast user name and password.

1. Download Thunderbird : http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/

2. Install Thunderbird

3 Start Thunderbird

Now use this inputs to set up your account:

- Import : don’t import anything

Continue

- type of account : Email

Continue

- Your Name: Full Name
- Email Address: Alias @blindenterprises.org

Continue

- type of server: POP
- Incoming Server: 66.179.48.9
- Use Global Inbox : leave clicked to enable sharing
- Outgoing Server: smtp.comcast.net

Continue

- Incoming User Name: Alias
- Outgoing User Name: Comcast user name (*without* the @comcast…)

Continue

- Account Name: Alias @blindenterprises.org

Continue

- Download now: checked

Continue

- Password: Password
- Password Manager: checked

Continue
Continue again

To complete, we are going to send ourselves a letter as:

- Click the ‘Write’ button (towards the top)
- To: Foward To (same address as setup)
- Subject: Test
- Click the ‘Send’ button (towards the top)

- Password: Comcast password
- Password Manager: checked

Continue

- Click the ‘Get Mail’ button (toward the top)

You should see the letter we just sent.

Good job!

To use this account on multiple computers:

- Go to Tools > Account Settings.
- Click on ‘Server Settings’ below the account name.
- Click ‘Leave Messages on server’
- Click ‘Until I delete them’
- Click OK

All done.
